End of Summer Fun

Sweet Nathan playing on the floor 5 1/2 months old.
In August Doug's niece, Jessica and her husband, Jeff came to the Twin Cities for Jeff's work. It was so fun that Jessica was able to come and visit us! One day we took her to the zoo.

The boys favorite part of the zoo is the bird show. Andrew always wishes they would call on him when they have a bird fly on someones finger. He finally got his wish. He looks a little nervous getting ready.
He loved that he FINALLY got to have the bird land on his hand.
While Jessica and Jeff were here we also went to the Mall of America and took them out to a fun place for dinner in St. Paul. One day Doug also picked them up from work and they came to our house for dinner. I hope that Jeff will get to come out for work again and Jessica and come too!

As the summer was winding down I decided to fill up a cooler full of water balloons for the boys to play with. While I was out in the backyard filling them up, Doug came home from work. I'm not sure if the boys were happy he was there or not because he SOAKED them!

Shalane's Wedding

Our trip out to Utah was for Shalane's special day. We first went to the luncheon at Copper Mill...yum! It was fun to have everyone 16 and older at the dinner. The best part was Doug trying to make sure the seating arrangement was okay.
Then we were able to go to the sealing ceremony at the Logan Temple. Shalane's grandpa Roylance was able to marry her and Jason.

That night was the reception out in Hyram. It was BEAUTIFUL! Shalane made a gorgeous bride. It was a very special day for the Hobbs family.
The rest of the Hobbs family...Darrin, Elizabeth, Josh, Kymberlee, Katie Rae, Dallin, and James. They all looked GREAT!
All the grand kids enjoyed eating cake and ice cream. The were also excited to be able to attend something since they had spent the day at Grandma's house while the adults went to the luncheon and ceremony.
It is always a wonderful day for a family when it is spent in the temple sealing eternal families!

Doug's SuRPriSe Graduation Party!

While we were in Logan, I had a SURPRISE PARTY for Doug for graduating with his MBA. (Doug LOVES surprises, so he was so happy I did this for him...not really.)
I had told Doug that all the family would meet at the park. We were suppose to bring our own dinner. I had actually bought a big sub and cake for the party. Doug thought everyone was getting their food, but when we showed up all the family and food was already there. It was really fun to celebrate his big accomplishment.

It was also Jessica's birthday, so we celebrated that too.
After we ate, the adults played horse shoes while the kids ran around the park and played soccer.

I'm so proud of Doug and his effort to get his MBA. He had class every Wednesday night from 5:30 until 9:30 for 1 1/2 years. It was long, but worth it!

Mt. Rushmore/ Windcaves Hike

We drove out to Utah again for Shalane's wedding the first part of August. Because we drove out in June, we decided to take our trip out a little easier. We stopped at Mt. Rushmore and stayed in a hotel in Rapid City.

The boys were so excited to stay in the hotel and get to swim in the pool. Nathan put his foot in, but started to cry because the water was cold. Doug swam with Danny, Jacob and Andrew. I sat on the side and held baby Nate.
The week we were in Logan, Doug took the boys for a hike to the Wind Caves up Logan Canyon. Melinda, Sandy, and Austin also went a long.
