HaPpY HallOWeeN

Jacob decided to be Batman this year. When I pulled out the costume bag he also found this blond wig that he thought was great.

Danny found his monkey costume and wore it as much as he could. It had a banana in the back pocket. Jacob and Danny played super hero's all day and Danny threw the bananas at the bad guys. They had so much fun! At dinner time I found Danny asleep at the bottom of the stairs. I guess he got tired from fighting bad guys all afternoon.

This year I was in charge of the Fall Festival for our ward.
Everyone brought soup and then we had games in the class rooms. I thought it went very well.
A lady in our ward made all these cup cakes for everyone...Yum Yum!
The missionaries had a room with a game in it.

The boys also invited our neighbor Zack.

Saturday before Halloween we did our Halloween activities. Dad helped carve the pumpkins while I made the cookies.

Making sugar cookies.
The boys amaze me each year how much candy they can fit on one cookie.

On Halloween Doug worked from home in the morning and then we went to Jacob's school in the afternoon for his school parade.
After the parade we picked Andrew up from school and went to Mackenthun's for their trick or treating around the store. Then we went to Zack's karate class for their Halloween party. THEN we came home and went trick or treating ALL around the neighborhood.
With 3 boys getting candy this year, we have a TON!

On Halloween Doug over heard Andrew and Jacob talking.
Jacob: Halloween is the BEST day EVER.
Andrew: If you put Halloween and Christmas together THAT would be the best day ever.
Jacob: Yea that would be the best day ever.
Andrew: I know the best day ever would be Halloween and Christmas put together and a pack of gum, THAT would be the best day EVER!

Fall 2011

Jacob loves to play with Nathan. I have to remind him that he is a baby and not a doll. He loves to roll around with him. Nathan doesn't mind thought he LOVES his brothers.
Here is Jacob playing with Nathan again. My two boys that look the most alike!
The other day I told Danny to go get his coat on. This was what he found and put on. He thought it fit perfectly. I had a hard time convincing him that it was actually Nathans coat.
Doug got an ipad for his graduation from school. Every night when he gets home from work the boys want to watch him play Dragons Ville. It has become the best tool to get ready for bed quickly so they have time to watch Dad play. This is now our evening activity before bed:)
The other day Andrew didn't have school so I decided to take him to the apple orchard that Jacob went to for is field trip. We also went with our neighbors the Kachers.

We also went on a ride and got to pick corn that we can pop. We ended the day with lunch at Dairy Queen...yum!

Sump Pump project FINALLY DONE!

We have lived in our house for 4 years. Every year we talk about doing our sump pump project and every year the snow falls before we get it done. This year we decided it was finally time to get this project done.
Here in MN we have a hole in our basement floor that the water under our house runs into. When the hole fills up, there is a sump pump that pumps the water out of our house. Our basement is lower than most, so our pump runs all the time. We always have a stream of water running in front of our house. We decided to bury a pipe in our backyard so the water can run to the pond.
We didn't think this project would be that hard, rent a trencher and throw some pipe in it, but we were WRONG. The lumber yard here in town only had 3 inch pipe, but we didn't think that would be a problem because the trencher did a 4 inch trench. Doug had to keep the trencher really straight or the pipe wouldn't fit in the hole. Then there were also big rocks that he kept hitting.
It was a really long day, but I think the boys enjoyed playing outside ALL day long.
After 3 Saturdays working on the project, we finally got it done. I hope it works better this winter and doesn't freeze!

Jacob's first field trip

At the end of September, Jacob had his first field trip to Fall Harvest Apple Orchard. I took Danny and Nathan and we met the class there. It was so fun to see Jacob with all his new friends.
Danny and Jacob feeding the goats.

At Fall Harvest they have 3 areas filled with dried corn. It was the best place to play.

Danny loved that he got to play with all the kids and be with Jacob best of all.
Jacob's class all lined up to get on the bus.
In September we also had the Kachers over to watch the BYU game. The boys had a great time watching movies upstairs while the adults watched the game. Here is Danny with his best buddy Riley.
